A Wordle I created of the entirety of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE. Reading about textual analysis today, was curious to see what words in P+P would be the most prominent. Interesting to note that love, marriage, and married are almost non-existent in the Wordle.

Pride & Prejudice Gender Swap →

What if in Regency England, the men were women and the women, were men? In a new reminaging of an old classic, Kate Harrad swaps the genders of Pride & Prejudice where instead of Elizabeth Bennet, we have Edward Bennet who along with his brother John (Jane), are looking to marry. According to Harrad, “I’ve changed the minimum necessary – pronouns, titles, names, a handful of details to keep it broadly believable. I’ve called it Prejudice and Pride, of course. And it’s different. For (an obvious) example, the world of the book is now a matriarchal society. The women ride around on horseback, go where they like, own houses, lead households. The men – or, as they’re more often described, the boys – stay at home, play the piano, and know that marriage is the only realistic aim of their adult lives.”

The book is available in the Kindle format at Amazon.com for $.99 or at Amazon.co.uk for 70p. Harrad also has a print copies available via Lulu.com

"It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of an internet startup to call his own."
